How to use a WhatsApp link
A WhatsApp click-to-chat link opens a chat with your number on any phone or computer with WhatsApp, with your message already typed. The customer only taps send. Put it in your Instagram bio, Google Business Profile, website, email signature or ads, and print the QR code for your counter, menu or packaging.
Links use the official wa.me format, so they work for personal numbers and WhatsApp Business numbers alike. Enter the number with its country code and without the leading zero, for example 91 and 9876543210 for an Indian mobile.
Why customers who message first matter
Conversations the customer starts are the safest kind on WhatsApp: nobody receives an unexpected message, and the 24-hour window for free replies on the official API opens automatically. If you send messages through an API, more inbound chats also lower your ban risk. Read how to avoid a WhatsApp ban.
