How to avoid a WhatsApp ban when you automate

WhatsApp restricts numbers that behave like spam. Automation is not the problem; sending patterns are. These are the rules we built Ban Shield around, and you can follow them on any tool.

Why numbers get banned

  • Many identical messages sent quickly to people who have not saved your number.
  • People blocking or reporting you after an unexpected message.
  • A brand-new number sending at full volume on day one.
  • High failure rates, for example messaging numbers that are not on WhatsApp.
  • Messages that look like scams: shortened links, urgent money requests, lottery wording.

Warm up a new number

A new or long-idle number should grow its daily volume slowly. AgaKural uses this ramp for every new number; it is a sensible default on any platform.

Watch the signals that predict a ban

Ban Shield scores each number from 0 to 100 using four signals, and slows sending down from 50:

  • Duplicate ratio (35%): how many recent messages had identical text. Personalise with names and details.
  • Daily cap usage (25%): how close you are to the day's limit.
  • Failure ratio (20%): messages that could not be delivered.
  • Silent recipients (20%): people you messaged who never replied.

Practical rules

  • Message people who expect you: customers, enquiries, members. Ask them to save your number.
  • Personalise every message; never send one identical text to hundreds of people.
  • Leave random gaps between messages instead of a fixed interval.
  • Honour STOP immediately and never message opted-out numbers again.
  • Use WhatsApp statuses for promotions; nobody gets an unexpected message.
  • Check that numbers are on WhatsApp before sending.
  • Spread volume across several warmed-up numbers rather than pushing one.

If your number is banned anyway

Open WhatsApp on the phone and use the in-app review request; temporary restrictions often lift within a day. Meanwhile, move traffic to a standby number. On AgaKural Growth and Business, failover does this automatically: queued messages, your API token and webhooks move to the standby, and recent contacts are told the new number. If the banned number stayed within our limits, ban credit gives you a month free for it.

Frequently asked questions

How many WhatsApp messages can I send per day without a ban?

There is no published number. A warmed-up number sending personalised messages to people who know you can usually handle around 1,000 a day; new numbers should start near 20.

Does WhatsApp Business get banned less?

The Business app gives you a profile and labels, but the same anti-spam rules apply.

Does the official API ever ban numbers?

It can restrict numbers with low quality ratings, but bans are rare when you follow Meta's policies.
